Everybody Shuffling – A Smash Up Review
From time to time in this great hobby, I come across a company that seems to be firing on all cylinders, cranking out hit after hit and yet I find it difficult to join the loving throng. AEG is, unfortunately, one of those companies. Don’t get me wrong, I love AEG and the people behind the scenes, but time after time I’ve given the big games a shot and time after time I just don’t seem to be part of their key demographic. For instance, Thunderstone was promised by many to be the game that brought me back around to appreciate deckbuilders; in the end – when every game lasted more than two hours or more – it couldn’t... GenCon 2012 – A Pictorial Recap
Hello, dear readers! The biggest gaming show in North America just wound down and I have returned a bit ragged but still raving about the experience. GenCon 2012 was a massive celebration of geekdom and gaming, and the sheer spectacle of it all never disappointed. The best part about GenCon for me was the chance to meet up with a lot of old friends and make some new ones meeting fans, supporters and colleagues over the four eventful days. There’s never enough time to do and see everything on your list at these things, but I left feeling satisfied that I had done and seen more than enough to fill me with great memories for years to come. And... Read More
WBC 2012 – A Pictorial Recap
We’ve attended many conventions over the years, but one of our recent favorites has become the World Boardgaming Championships in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. No other convention embodies the thrill of competition and the camaraderie and fellowship of tabletop gaming quite like the WBC. Although Monkey238 and I headed to Lancaster to playtest and promote Dice Hate Me Games, we also wanted to be able to relax and have a little gaming vacation before the madness of GenCon. We were definitely not disappointed, and had a wonderful time with friends, both old and new. So settle back and take it all in through this picture book look at the WBC! Our... Read More

Just the Facts: Richard Launius Spills About Ace Detective
All of you dear readers are probably familiar with my zest for zeppelins and my love of all things Lovecraft, but I also have another vice – pulp, gritty noir, and the darker the better. Luckily for me, my favorite purveyor of prized Lovecraftian gameplay, Richard Launius, has thrown a touch of Howard Philips in with a truckload of pulp private investigators in Ace Detective, currently on Kickstarter. Curious to know more – and knowing quite a few of you would be, as well – Richard was gracious enough to give us some clues about his newest caper. ———— Dice Hate Me: So, Ace Detective is a storytelling... The State of Games, Episode 31 – The One About Origins, Chemistry and The Big Blue Noodle
This is a really big show about a Really Big Show – namely, Origins Game Fair. Ok, so it wasn’t as Really Big as it usually is because of a date change and gamer malaise and rampaging pomeranians… but we’ll get to all that. Regardless, we had a blast at Origins, and it was awesome getting to meet and play with a whole bunch of you. At any rate, get comfortable – we’ve got a whole lotta podcast for ya! Rome Is Beautiful – A Glory To Rome Unboxing
You won’t often find many unboxing posts around Dice Hate Me, but every now and then a game comes along that warrants a little more attention to component detail. Glory to Rome is definitely one of those games. Since most of us have waited a cesar’s lifespan to get the game, and because I’ve received several questions about the game’s components, I now present a pictorial overview of the innards of one unbelievably beautiful black box.
