The State of Games, Episode 65 – The One About Staying Forever Young

There is both nostalgia and the remembrance of our youth. There is a grey line between them both. But on this podcast we choose to embrace our youth and talk about the things in our present which remind us of our past. It’s those things that keep us forever young, and it’s one of the greatest assets of our geeky generation. Explore your youth and your future youth with us! Read More  Read More

The State of Games, Episode 64 – The One About Raising a Ruckus

Sometimes you just want to sit back and relax with the usual suspects on the podcast – and sometimes you just want to have a big ol’ party. This podcast is much more the latter with no fewer than six people all talking about games that just make you go “oh crap!” a time or three. And, amazingly, nobody talks over anyone else! Plus, what would a good party be without the law somehow getting involved? We do not disappoint in that regard. Read More  Read More

The State of Games, Episode 48 – The One About the Brothers MacKenzie

We manage to pull off an amazing feat on this episode of The State of Games – we coaxed Fred and David MacKenzie out of hiding! Trust us, it’s sort of like snagging an interview with JD Salinger. Two of them! We had a lot of fun on this podcast, and we think you’ll all enjoy hearing about the amazing projects that Clever Mojo Games has coming in the next few months. Read More  Read More

The State of Games, Episode 45 — The One About Hobo Pain

After the last beast of a podcast, I figured it was time to just take everything back to formula, give all of you dear listeners a little break, and just chat about some board games. And that’s just what we did. Of course, what was intended as a brief, 30-minute foray into some titles that Darrell, TC and I played during a recent visit soon stretched into an hour. Hey, give us a microphone and just try to stop us. Read More  Read More

The State of Games, Episode 37 – The One About the Ghost Fleet and the Haunted Dungeon

We love this time of year – leaves falling, crazy-faced pumpkins appearing on every doorstep, and lots and lots of new games popping up in our local store, and on Kickstarter! For this episode, we wanted to capture a bit of that October game ghoulishness, as well as talk about the spooky spirit of Halloween. And what better way to do that than to run a little bit long on the podcast talking to four different people? So sit back, admire your finely-crafted Jack-O-Lantern and enjoy this holiday hodgepodge of game designers and publishers, talking up their craft. Read More  Read More

Ye Olde Meat and Potatoes – A Lyssan Guest Review

Today on Dice Hate Me, we’re lucky to have a guest review by the most excellent and always helpful Marc Specter. Marc takes a look at Lyssan – a sprawling boardgame that racked up some nice funding last year on Kickstarter, at about the same time as Carnival. So grab ye some mead, dear readers, and dig into this special feast! The arrival of Lyssan is upon us.  As team leader of the group that was privileged to run Lyssan at Origins this year,  I feel it incumbent upon me to provide you, gentle gamer, a preview of your next great game. We play in a time where few games make it to the table more than a few times, and where the new... Read More

The State of Games, Episode 31 – The One About Origins, Chemistry and The Big Blue Noodle

This is a really big show about a Really Big Show – namely, Origins Game Fair. Ok, so it wasn’t as Really Big as it usually is because of a date change and gamer malaise and rampaging pomeranians… but we’ll get to all that. Regardless, we had a blast at Origins, and it was awesome getting to meet and play with a whole bunch of you. At any rate, get comfortable – we’ve got a whole lotta podcast for ya! Origins 2012 Photo Recap – A Publisher’s Perspective

Hello dear readers! Monkey238 and I have returned from Origins 2012 a bit weary, but incredibly happy as we met many of you and made lots of new friends along the way. We worked hard from 10 to 6 every day in the Exhibition Hall running demos of Carnival, VivaJava and Compounded, teaching the joys of Lucky Dice (and awarding awesome prizes!), and just generally spreading the Dice Hate Me Games love around the con. After the Exhibition Hall closed for the day, we also got a chance to do quite a bit of after-hours gaming with a great group of people in Cartrunk Entertainment’s Unpub area in open gaming. The easiest way to share our adventures... Read More
